Bovine

Sometimes I like to do crazy things, like volunteer for sinking-ship projects when I already have more than plenty to keep me busy. Last Friday I offered to become peripherally involved in something that I thought would be quick in-and-out type of job, but hours after my altruistic act, I already started getting hints that I would be getting more than I bargained for.

Yesterday confirmed my suspicions: half-completed specs, unhappiness about the technology chosen, no project manager in sight and bad feelings all around. Right now my role is just to try and bring things together a bit. I talked in very calm tones and explained why I thought the project wasn't ready for the next phase. I can tell I haven't even begun to get to the bottom of the conflict.

I was thinking, I feel like one of the cows they send into the bullring when the bull is wigging out so bad they can't calm him down. The little herd of cows run in, all bells and innocence. Sometimes, they get the hell gored out of them.
