Well, how did I get here?

This may be a short-lived endeavor. I had planned just to respond to my friend Tammitopia, and now here I am with my very own blog. Must admit, I've considered having one before, but prefer my sparse journal entries to be the non-edited, rambling type. Hence the title of this blog.

The other thing is that since I work in the wonderful world of web sites at least 40 hours/week, my idea of fun is not to sit around doing stuff on the computer--not really a "technology for technology's sake" kind of girl. Don't get me wrong, I love my job, but when the workday's over I'd rather go home and tie knots in some string (aka knitting) or go take a walk. Maybe it's a reaction to that horrible addiction I had a few years back to the X-Files message board. Back then, I worked at a job that was also technology-based but not challenging, so I had time to be sucked in. Ah, I do miss Agent Mulder.

That's all for now.

Reverse psychology works every time. Of course you name it stuff you don't want to read as a disclaimer, and then I go and read every bit of it!!!

I have to admit, I stole the idea (but then, as we English majors know, there are no new ideas). Here at work we have iTunes shared across the FacStaff network. Some people name their collections helpful things like "Dave's music." (This was very helpful to me b/c I was able to get those Elliott Smith live tracks from Dave before he left the college for another job.) Then there are the amusing fellows who name their collections things like "stuff you don't want" and put a lock on it so you can't actually get in to see what's there. You know, there's really no limit to the cleverness in academia (not sarcastic, no, not me).

Stuff you don't want...the sequel to "The Epic of the Chicken Thief." I am now going to google it to see if he ever published that somewhere other than the Rhodes literary magazine.

I only found a record called Chicken Thief by Epic records.

I had completely forgotten about that! There were signs up for the lit mag just last week, soliticing submissions. I have to say, they were rather boring compared to my Dilbert and Michael Stipe poster series toward the same end. Good lord! It's been ten years!

I remember there was one that had some sort of bondage theme and said Submit! I think Camille was responsible for that one maybe?

I must also add that I saw a brief glimpse of David Duchovny at the Independent Spirit Awards and my bf laughed because I involuntarily squirmed and beamed when I saw him on the TV. Mulder just has that effect on women...

Mulder is getting jowly, but he's still all right by me.

On the topic of the bondage flyer, that was me, too. "Submit" with a drawing of bound hands. That seems a lot more ominous than funny to me these days.
